Catalan Spelling of my name

 The InterNet has long used 7-bits characters only (the so-called «printable» characters from [Alt_32] to [Alt_126], an array which leaves out extended ASCII characters, `ñ' among them). Thus I was constrained to look for a replacement for `Peña'. I found one: the Catalan name with about the same sound and the same meaning. `Peña' means `rock', `cliff', `crag'. Spanish (i.e. Castilian) and Catalan are, of course, two sister-languages; they are quite similar and belong to the ibero-roman group -- along with Galizian-Portuguese. Many common nouns are used as family-names in both languages, sometimes with some small spelling differences -- `Peña' or its Catalan equivalent `Penya' being one of them. Moreover, since I was born in Alicante -- a city in the Valencian Eastern region of Spain, whose local language is a dialect of Catalan (many scholars maintain -- rightly to my mind -- that Valencian and Catalan are in fact one language with minor dialectal variations) -- I seem to be entitled to regard Catalan as one of my mother tongues. Thus, do not be amazed if you often see my name `Peña' spelt as `Penya'.
